Becoming.
To navigate to the next level of success or achievement you need to prepare and get ready for it.
You receive a vision, a desire, a goal and then what?
When you decide to do something new, it's often a newer version of you that needs to come forward to deliver that thing or to receive that thing.
In order to do that, quite often, stuff internally needs to be cleared in order for you to be the version that can deliver on it. The stuff that need to be cleared are usually things that have been stuck for a while. Sometimes decades. And to go into those emotions and beliefs is uncomfortable.
It doesn’t matter how successful you are, what you have achieved, who you have worked with, this part of becoming is hard. It’s scary and uncomfortable. But it is also necessary. This is a necessary part of growth. It is the becoming of you.
The new thing is bigger than what your nervous system has experienced before so it freaks out. It becomes energy in motion. Emotion. Often there will be fear or tears, or negative self-talk or all of these. This is because the emotion needs to pass through you so you can grow, you are clearing stuff so you can step into the next evolution of who you are becoming. It is the preparation of what is to come.
A lot of people freeze and don’t move forward, they ignore their desire and stay put. Your nervous system is wonderful at keeping you safe and often that is needed. This is where you notice when you are in real danger. But it also keeps you from growing, if you allow it to. You shrink and decide not to feel the emotion because it is too big, too scary and too hard.
So, what do you do when you receive a vision or a desire and you start to work towards it and then you start to freak out? What do you do when you hear your inner voice telling you that you can’t do that thing, or that you’re not born into the right family, or you’re not pretty enough, or smart enough?
You do this… You feel. You allow yourself to notice the emotion and you feel it. You surround yourself with people you feel safe with so you can express yourself. You allow the tears to flow, you allow your fear to be seen. You shout into a pillow if that feels good. And when that’s done, you regulate your nervous system.
There are several ways you can do this. Here are some of my favourite.
Hug yourself and sway. There’s a reason we rock babies!
Belly breath. Close your eyes, sit or stand up straight and take some deep slow breaths into your belly and then release slowly.
Sing or hum. The sound raises your vibration.
Allow your body to move intuitively. Let it guide you as you sway and dance.
Be present in nature. You can take a walk or sit.
Walk on the earth barefoot.
All these practices will regulate your nervous system so you feel safer to take the steps you need to receive your vision, your desire or your goal.
Don’t hold yourself back. Feel the feels and open yourself to becoming the version of you that you know you are meant to be.
